Education
MATRIX concentrates uniquely on 'new music', classical music written after 1950. A choice that is for the most vulnerable segment of classical music. After World War II, the gap between tha composer and the audience has become wider than ever.
Since the spring of 2003, MATRIX organises a broad range of educational activities, with hte aim to make new music better known. Today, we organise concert introductions, lectures and lecture-recitals, workshops, large-scale projects etc.
We consider it a major challenge to reach both music lovers and a completely new audience. Therefore, our projects are made for different focus groups and appear in a variety of forms. One day there is a workshop for primary school children, the next day it might be a masterclass for music students or a lecture for an audience of music loving adults. For music schools and primary schools, we offer a wide range of workshops, but we also devellop numerous custom-made activities. Some exemples can be found here.
