Reading room
The reading room of our documentation centre for new music is accessible to everyone for free. There are 7 work spaces where you can read scores, listen to CDs and LPs, look at DVDs and study the specialist literature. Photocopying is not permitted.
You can consult 22.000 scores and 13.000 tracks (ca. 3.000 CDs and a large collection of LPs) with compositions by Belgian and international composers. About 20% of our collection is Flemish music. These materials can be obtained by handing over a list of the place numbers and titels of the works you need to our librarian. These numbers can be found in our catalogue, that is to be found in our reading room or online on our website.
Apart from scores, CDs and DVDs, our documentation centre also has a specialized reference library with more than 600 books on composers of new music and related topics, specialized journals and most of the relevant reference works in this domain. Contrary to the scores and CDs that are kept in our repository, these books are available to the public in open access in our reading room.
In our reading room you are always assisted by trained staff. They can help you with all your questions on new music and music material.
We are open on:
